I was never a big Bill Murray when he was at his peak on Saturday Night Live. I can’t tell you exactly what did it but, through the years Bill Murray has grown on me and I’ve developed a fondness and affection for him and his sense of humor.
Putting some thought to it, I would have to say the turning point was his portrayal of a disaffected industrialist beset by a mid-life crisis in Wes Anderson's Rushmore (which is a terrific movie and if you haven’t seen it you really should!). No, that wasn’t it, I’m thinking we might go even further back to GhostBusters when I started to take a shine to that dry delivery that is one of Murray’s hallmarks.
So, if you know anything about Bill Murray (and I don’t know all that much aside from him living over in Rockland), you know he’s a pretty big baseball fan and also the owner of a minor league franchise. He’s also a die hard Cubs fan.
Seeing as how the Cubs are in the middle of an 11 game losing streak, it seems to me they could use some cheering up.
